Career Gastronomy:

Advice on Career & Career Changes from One Hungry Dude

Description:

Where do you find the biggest barrier when it comes to building a great career or making a career change? That answer lies in your mirror. Everyday we talk ourselves out of doing something special or drastic. And everyday we focus on the goal instead of taking small, incremental steps towards that future we dream for ourselves. And yet every day people across the globe find their dreams coming true. Entrepreneurs found their own companies or consulting practices. The perpetual "nice guy, but not a leader" becomes the boss. A middle-aged, burn out professional mortgages their house to start a restaurant. Ever day people cross the finish line and achieve the goals they set for themselves. And every day ninety-nine other people wake up and go back to their miserable jobs, the life visibly draining from them. If you ever found yourself wanting to improve your career or make a leap and switch things up, join the Philadelphia Great Careers Group and local HR and Training expert John Luczkowski for a lively discussion and exploration of what it takes to achieve your dreams!

Presenter:

John Luczkowski, M.Ed., has a passion for education, learning, and human-centered businesses. He spent half a dozen years as a high-school teacher covering subjects such as World History, Political Science, Economics, and American Government as well as coaching national champion debate teams. After a self-inflicted career change, he wound up in the corporate learning & development space where he has spent the past dozen years in increasingly more complex and senior roles inside of Fortune 500 Companies. He currently serves as a senior training manager for Comcast, overseeing the development of training classes and assets for Comcast's residential business. Additionally, he co-founded and runs the Learning & Development Professionals of Greater Philadelphia - a 501(c)3 non-profit that provides continuing professional development, networking, and educational programs to those who work in adult education, corporate training, and talent management here in the Philadelphia region. John takes great pride in having launched L&D Philly as an idea and growing it into the premiere association for those who do what he does on a daily basis. John regularly teaches classes on Instructional Design, Learning Theory, Learning Technology, and Process Mapping through several different local universities and national professional development groups.
