No, we're not talking about the band. As much as John loves them, the analogy here deals with rolling stones, literally. The well known saying goes "a rolling stone gathers no moss". In modern parlance, that means if you want to get somewhere, you need to move. Idleness, they say, and progress exist as enemies. But how true does that statement prove to be in the end? Sure, if you sit still too long, the world will pass you by and you may not even notice it. But, every stone needs to slow down at times. Every stone needs to enjoy its "stonehood" at various times. Right? Founding and running a professional development group takes courage. And time. And commitment. But alas poor Urich, it also takes patience. And the ability to recognize when to slow certain rocks down and when to speed other ones up. So don't fret the times when you need to recharge. You can't fill up a bucket from an empty well. And rocks without mold on them tend to be dry. And brittle. And boring. And it's a lot harder to climb a rock that's moving, so when trying to lift others up - you got to remember to slow down. And in the end, the rolling stones do provide a good analogy - you can't always get what you want. But if you try sometimes, you get what you need.

So....who says the gods are crazy? We decided to take our March monthly workshop completely virtual as a result of the latest round of Mother Nature's fury. Not sure what it was like in the Northern & Western burbs this morning, but it was pretty dry and clear in the city near John. But too late to drag people back to a spot for a meeting, we pressed forward with our virtual format. But divine providence stepped stepped up. Not only did everyone get to sleep in a little later, we heard from our partners at Drexel later in the day that their servers were out till early afternoon. Sometimes...you get the bear.
